Kloofing takes you beyond the normal hiking trail and into the heart of the mountain. Expect rock scrambling, water crossings, swimming, abseiling, boulder hopping and technical sections as you make your way through the gorge.
Big Sky Adventures leads guided kloofing experiences for groups looking to explore some of the Magaliesberg’s most spectacular and challenging terrain. Each kloof is different. Route selection is based on the group’s experience, fitness, water conditions, weather and the level of challenge you’re looking for.

Meet your guide, receive gear and begin the approach into the mountain. The route to the gorge may itself involve steep hiking and scrambling.
Once inside the kloof, the character of the adventure changes. Expect rocky terrain, narrow sections, boulder scrambling and natural obstacles.
Depending on the route and current conditions, the adventure may include swimming and water crossings. Water levels and conditions can change significantly, so your guide will assess the route on the day.
Some sections may require climbing, scrambling or the use of ropes. Your guide will manage the technical sections and determine the safest way through the route.
After completing the route, we’ll make our way out of the gorge and back to the starting point.
